My movement journey
I have experienced, in my own body, the benefits, challenges, and transformations that happen within the mind and body when exercising.
My movement journey started as a kid who loved gymnastics and dancing. During my teenager years, I didn't resonate with gyms or sports, so I had a pretty sedentary period until I discovered the power of Pilates, yoga and meditation in 2015. It changed my life, it made it fun to exercise again. Recently, I have resumed gymnastics (in form of callisthenics), and salsa dancing. I'm so glad how Pilates and yoga allows me to move freely and pain-free to enjoy those things I love. This is, also, my ultimate goal for you.
My approach to injuries
I completed a physiotherapy bachelor back in Chile with the idea of helping people recover from injuries. Today, I have over 10 years of experience exploring and teaching different movement practices, I have specialised in creating alternative exercise programs (based on Pilates and all the other modalities I have learnt) to make them suitable to every-body, regardless of the injury.
Through my Yoga and Health Coach training, I developed a unique holistic view of ourselves. I see a condition or injury not just as a problem with a specific 'structure', but also, how it affects your mood, energy, sleep cycle, eating habits, view of yourself and your abilities, which, ultimately will determine how you move in the world.
Chronic pain can be quite debilitating mentally, physically, (of course), but also emotionally, and sometimes you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. That's why, a big part of what I do, is to help you change how you see yourself and to understand your pain and injury, but also, to retrain your capacity of moving pain-free and teach you ways of becoming self-sustainable at home.
Our Studio’s vision
My vision for Your Balance Project is to create an inclusive, empowering and welcoming environment for every-body. Especially, in today’s society, the benefits of movement have became vital for our mental and physical health.
I believe that Pilates and exercise should be part of our lifestyles and should be available to anyone; regardless of race, gender, age, ability, background or socioeconomical status.
We have proudly built a studio that fosters respect, kindness and inclusivity in a such a supportive and fun community. I hope you can find in us, a community and exercise practice that resonates with you and that essentially changes your life.
